Greener Homes Initiative Informational Session – 10/31/24

GREENER HOMES INITIATIVE FREE INFORMATIONAL SEMINAR

NH Housing is excited to announce the launch of a new initiative to connect multifamily developers and property owners with a range of federal, state, and utility incentives for energy retrofits, energy upgrades, and solar power systems.

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 allocates roughly $360 billion for clean energy retrofits and upgrades. An unprecedented array of rebates, grants, loans, and tax credits will be available via programs administered by the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. EPA, U.S. Treasury, NH Department of Energy, NH Department of Environmental Services, and NH Housing.

The Greener Homes Initiative will enable developers/property owners to:

  • Improve energy performance of multifamily buildings
  • Reduce energy usage and costs
  • Lower greenhouse gas emissions
  • Increase building comfort and resiliency

NH Housing’s Solar for All program will be a key component of the Greener Homes Initiative. NH Housing has been awarded $23 million by the U.S. EPA to finance:

  • Onsite solar power systems for multifamily buildings
  • Large-scale community solar installations that will be virtually net-metered to reduce costs for property owners and building residents

Multifamily properties financed by NH Housing will be eligible for grants and/or low-interest loans to finance rooftop or ground-mounted solar arrays. These incentives will also be available to New Hampshire’s public housing authorities.
