New Hampshire Housing event offers extensive resources for prospective homebuyers
Spring is a great time to search for a home and New Hampshire Housing’s Homebuyer Fair on Saturday, March 17, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Manchester Downtown Hotel (formerly the Radisson), 700 Elm Street, will offer prospective buyers information and resources to help navigate the home buying process.
This is the 16th year that New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority has sponsored the Homebuyer Fair. Attendees can attend free educational seminars and talk with lenders, real estate agents, title companies, nonprofit organizations, and agencies. More than 25 exhibitors will be at the event.
“’How can I finance the purchase of a home’ is usually the first question prospective buyers have. By attending our Homebuyer Fair, they can find out how to qualify for cash funds to help defray the cost of downpayment, closing costs and prepaid escrow expenses. Additionally, first-time homebuyers can learn about the Homebuyer Tax Credit, which may reduce a first-time homebuyer’s federal tax liability by up to $2,000 each year,” noted Ignatius MacLellan, Managing Director of New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority’s Homeownership Division.
Admission to the New Hampshire Housing Homebuyer Fair is free and attendees can enter to win a variety of door prizes. Details at www.GoNewHampshireHousing.com or call 1-800-649-0470.
There are three regional Homebuyer Fairs being held this month:
• March 10, Portsmouth (with The Housing Partnership)
• March 17, Manchester
• March 24, Littleton (with AHEAD)
New Hampshire Housing helped nearly 2,000 households purchase a home last year; this accounted for about 10% of all home purchases in the state. In September, NHHFA launched a low downpayment, conventional fixed-rate financing loan program for manufactured housing in resident-owned communities, in partnership with Fannie Mae.
