Greener Homes Initiative Informational Session – 10/31/24

October 31, 2024 | 9:00 am - 11:00am

Venue : Hybrid

GREENER HOMES INITIATIVE FREE INFORMATIONAL SEMINAR OCTOBER 31, 2024 | 9-11 AM (hybrid)

NH Housing is excited to announce the launch of a new initiative to connect multifamily developers and property owners with a range of federal, state, and utility incentives for energy retrofits, energy upgrades, and solar power systems. The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 allocates roughly $360 billion for clean energy retrofits and upgrades. An unprecedented array of rebates, grants, loans, and tax credits will be available via programs administered by the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. EPA, U.S. Treasury, NH Department of Energy, NH Department of Environmental Services, and NH Housing. The Greener Homes Initiative will enable developers/property owners to:
  • Improve energy performance of multifamily buildings
  • Reduce energy usage and costs
  • Lower greenhouse gas emissions
  • Increase building comfort and resiliency
NH Housing's Solar for All program will be a key component of the Greener Homes Initiative. NH Housing has been awarded $23 million by the U.S. EPA to finance:
  • Onsite solar power systems for multifamily buildings
  • Large-scale community solar installations that will be virtually net-metered to reduce costs for property owners and building residents
Multifamily properties financed by NH Housing will be eligible for grants and/or low-interest loans to finance rooftop or ground-mounted solar arrays. These incentives will also be available to New Hampshire’s public housing authorities. Join us on October 31 from 9-11 AM to learn more about this program. You can register to attend in-person at NH Housing’s office or join virtually. There is no cost to attend this seminar. Attending this seminar will offer valuable insights into how these programs can directly enhance your properties while reducing energy costs and environmental impact. Instructions on how to join remotely will be provided in your confirmation email.

BIPOC Home and Business Ownership Community Kickoff – 10/25/24

October 25, 2024 | 8:30 am - 11:00am

Venue : Hilton Garden Inn 35 Labombard Rd. Lebanon, NH

Join the public launch of the BIPOC Home and Business Ownership (BHBO) project to support Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in putting down roots in the Upper Valley. The BHBO Community Kick-Off will be a morning of networking, resource sharing, solutions-centered brainstorming, for people involved in the homeownership process, local businesses, and social well-being of BIPOC community members. Free admission, including breakfast! The BHBO project emerged in response to the broadly recognized need for the Upper Valley to attract and retain workers and full-time residents to keep its economy vibrant. Many new arrivals are discouraged by the difficulty of finding a home and building a community. This is particularly true for BIPOC community members who – due to the historic marginalization of BIPOC community members and the Upper Valley’s history as a predominantly White area – face unique difficulties in maneuvering the job market, securing housing, establishing businesses, accessing cultural goods, and, above all, experiencing a sense of inclusion and belonging. The BHBO project is a joint endeavor by community members Conicia “CJ” Jackson and Julius Turner, Vital Communities, and Mascoma Bank.

More about the tour:

Living in Downtown puts you in the heart of the city with a unique level of convenience. Everything is at your fingertips, and you can easily walk to shops, restaurants, and other amenities. You can connect to public transportation, bike or get around on foot, reducing the need for a car. Downtown living is very desirable to residents of all ages for the vibrant nightlife, cultural events, and attractions. Downtowns contribute a high density of economic activity and a concentration of opportunity for a more diverse and inclusive population. But creating new housing units in Downtown districts has challenges, too. Building codes have changed over time, structures and uses may be obsolete, there will be brownfield issues, rising water levels, stormwater concerns and clashes in the neighborhood over traffic and parking. These all weigh on the financial feasibility of Downtown sites and add challenges to office-to-residential conversions.
